Home Computer Technician Visit: What to Expect

In short

When a computer technician comes to your home, they first call to understand the problem, then visit for an hour. They fix the tablet, phone or computer, explain each step simply, and leave with clear notes…

Before the visit: a call to understand the need, in Longueuil and beyond

Before heading out, the technician calls to find out what's wrong: an email that's stopped coming in, Wi-Fi that keeps dropping, a finicky printer, or a suspicious message you're unsure about. This call means the technician arrives prepared on the day of the visit.

Rupert covers the South Shore, the North Shore, Laval and Montreal, including Longueuil. If your address is a bit further out, you can still book: we'll simply call you back to confirm the visit can happen. You can check the service areas to confirm your neighbourhood is covered.

The one-hour home visit: what's included

The One-hour home visit with a computer technician covers the most common needs: setting up or troubleshooting a tablet or phone, cleaning up a slow computer, stabilizing Wi-Fi, connecting a printer, organizing emails and spotting the signs of a fraud attempt.

The technician explains every step out loud, with no jargon. Nothing is done behind the scenes or rushed through: the goal is for you to understand what's happening, at your own pace. If an adult child is present, or on the phone during the visit, they're welcome to ask questions too.

After the visit: notes and tips to stay independent

Once the work is done, the technician writes down what was done and leaves a few simple tips for going forward. This might be a reminder on how to recognize a suspicious email, or an easier way to open an app.

These notes stay useful long after the technician leaves, especially if a small issue comes back or if a family member wants to understand what was changed.

Booking for yourself or for a parent

You can book online through the calendar or by phone, whichever is easier for you. An adult child can book on behalf of a parent and be present, either in person or by phone, during the visit.

Three options are available depending on your needs: a one-time Visit to solve a specific problem, the Essential plan for more regular follow-up, and the Family plan designed for families who want to keep an eye on a loved one's tech situation. You can book a visit now for yourself or for a parent.

The On-site program for seniors' residences

Management teams at seniors' residences can also call on Rupert for on-site support for their residents. This service runs on a quote basis and contributes, among other things, to preventing digital fraud among residents.

This service is for teams who want to offer their residents real, hands-on tech support without having to train their own staff for this type of request. More topics related to tech support for seniors are covered on the blog.
